Music Together® - Mixed Age
Class designed for children birth through 5 fostering developmentally appropriate, family-style learning. Adults and children participate at their own level by singing, moving, chanting, listening and exploring musical instruments. Class meets for 45 minutes once a week. Infants 9 months and under come free with a registered sibling. Song collections change each semester.
The mixed-age format is not only educationally sound but creates a family-like atmosphere where siblings can attend class together. Older children learn from being in a leadership role, while younger children benefit from the example of the older child. Children of the same age are not necessarily in the same stage of music development. A mixed-age format enables them to participate freely and experience the music at their own level of complexity, without being burdened by age-specific expectations.
NEW Babies Only Class
The Music Together Babies class, for families with infants from birth
through eight months, is a one-semester introduction to Music Together
and to early childhood music development. After this one semester, the
family enrolls in a mixed-age class. The music activities in a Babies
class are specifically designed to teach parents how to support music
development in infancy and how to connect with their infants through
music, using concepts like “purposeful touch,” “sound layering,” and
“dancing for baby.” Babies classes use the same collection as mixed-age
and Big Kids classes, enabling a seamless transition for families and
teachers between class programs.
We offer Piano lessons for age 5 through adult. AND we offer beginning Acting CLasses for ages 6- 9 with our special ACT TOO! program
